A Quick and Easy Christmas Cookie...

I wish we had a picture of these cookies, but sadly they are all gone. We ate them up!

But they are super easy and yummy...nothing hard..all you have to be able to do is open a package, crack an egg, and measure oil! Yup that's it!

Here's the recipe:

1 chocolate cake mix (I usually buy a cheap one around a dollar)
2 eggs
1/2 cup of vegetable oil
1 cup of semisweet chocolate chip or white chocolate chips

Mix all ingredients together. Roll dough into balls, place on an un-greased cookie sheet, mash slightly, and bake at 350 for 10 minutes.

Allow to cool for one minute before transferring to cooling rack.

12 Days of Christmas: Day 7: Christmas #1

We had our Christmas early with just the 3 of us this past week. On Thursday, we will be leaving to celebrate Christmas at my parents, and when we get back we will celebrate it with Jonathan's family! So there will definitely be more pics coming!

12 Days of Christmas: Day 6: Oreo Balls

I'm sorry for getting a little behind with my posts! We had our Christmas Cantata last night, and yesterday afternoon, I just collapsed on the couch! Jonathan was such a Sweetheart! Jeremiah hasn't been sleeping well at night so he watched him while I took a nap!. It was soooooooo nice!

One of my favorite cookies is oreos! I love them with a big glass of milk...it is so hard to stop on jut 2! Well at Christmas, we have made these! Oreo Balls! They are super easy and delicious! Enjoy!

Ingredients


1 (16 ounce) packages Oreo cookies, crushed
1 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1 (24 ounce) packages white chocolate bark
1 (24 ounce) packages chocolate

Directions


Using a blender or hand held mixer, mix Oreos and cream cheese together.

Roll into walnut size balls.

Chill for an hour.

Melt approximately 3/4 package of white almond bark.

Stick a toothpick in an Oreo ball and dip it in the melted white almond bark.

Allow to harden on wax paper.

Takes about 15 minute.

While waiting, melt about 1/4 package of chocolate almond bark.

When Oreo balls are no longer sticky to the touch, decorate with drizzles of chocolate and white almond bark.

I just use a sandwich bag with a tiny hole cut in one corner to drizzle the almond bark.

12 Days of Christmas: Day 5: Our Hometown Christmas

I can hardly wait to head back to my hometown for Christmas!!!!! I am so super excited! There is something special about your home...especially at Christmas...

Sometimes, it seems the older you get the more you remember and value those things you grew up with! They become even more special! You seem to talk about them more this time of year...here are somethings I remember about my hometown at Christmas time:

• We always knew it was getting close to Christmas when the Food Lion put up their BIG Christmas tree.
• When we lived in our white house, I had an upstairs bedroom, and the older man down the road would go all out with his lights. I could look out my window at night and see them!
• I don't support Catholics or anything, but it was so special to see their manger scene they put up every year. (It wasn't the plastic kind, but a beautifully made one!) It just wouldn't be right without it.
• We used to ride downtown to see the trees all lit up, and then to the Library to see the big tree!
• The School for the Deaf would always have a lone star at the top of their tallest building.
• We don't do the whole Santa Claus thing, but it was so neat to me to see Rudolph at the Mall! It was like this giant head...and a lady Mama knew was the voice...
• The church Christmas party was so good! Not to mention all that food!

12 Days of Christmas: Day 4: Oh Christmas Tree!

I've got a short post tonight! Just a kind of a show and tell post! We are celebrating Christmas tonight with just our little family...so I don't have much time...but here is our tree!

I have no idea why it is blurry, but there it is anyway! Now it's your turn! I'd love to see yours! I always love to get fresh ideas! 12 Days of Christmas: Day 3: I'm so glad it's Christmas!

Isn't this little girl just precious!?! (make sure you turn off the music at the bottom before you start the video) I am so glad that it's Christmas!

We as Christians have so much to celebrate this time of the year! First of all, we have a wonderful Saviour whose birth we can celebrate. He is the source of our joy, and He wants us to be happy and enjoy life!

Secondly, because of our Saviour, we have freedom! Boy, is this another reason to celebrate! We have been set free from the payment of sin, of spending eternity in Hell, and even the power of sin over our lives! All because a little baby was born in a manger--not just any baby but the Son of God!

Thirdly, we have a home in Heaven! This time of year with all its beauty, is just a taste of what Heaven will be like...not even a taste, maybe a drop in the bucket! That time will be a even greater get together! I can hardly wait!

As you and your family celebrate Christmas this year, I challenge you to be glad it's Christmas! We get so caught up in the buying gifts, decorating, all the activities, and the general business that we forget that we are celebrating! Celebrating the biggest birthday of the year! So, put up those lights, decorate that tree, bake those cookies, sing those carols, give with so much joy because we are celebrating His birthday!

12 Days of Christmas: Day 2: Easy (the yummiest) Chocolate Chip Cookies

I thought I'd share a super easy cookie recipe today! These are perfect! I've tried several recipes for chocolate chip cookies that were okay, but these are the best so far that I've tried! I'm planning on making some to give a couple of people for Christmas! I found the recipe here.

■ 1/2 c. butter, melted
■ 1/2 c. shortening
■ 3/4 c. white sugar
■ 3/4 c. brown sugar
■ 1 1/2 t. vanilla
■ 2 eggs
■ 2 1/4 c. flour
■ 1 t. baking soda
■ 1 t. salt
■ 1 pk chocolate chips

Mix together the sugars, butter, shortening. Mix in the eggs and the vanilla. Add in the flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix well. Add in the chocolate chips and take a minute to admire the cookie dough. Drop the dough onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350F for 12 minutes or until slightly browned on the tops. Mmmm chocolate chip cookie perfection!

12 Days of Christmas Begins

I found this on a blog recently, and I thought it would be neat to open up with during the 12 days of Christmas! I would love to read you results, too! Let me know if you do this questionnaire!

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?
I will do both, but I love to wrap presents...always thought it would be neat to get a seasonal job just wrapping gifts!


2. Real tree or Artificial?
Real! I love a real tree...I don't know, but it just seems more Christmasy to go out and get a tree...


3. When do you put up the tree?
The Saturday after Thanksgiving this year...last year it was later because we were on our honeymoon.


4. When do you take the tree down?
It will be after we come home from my parents house, maybe after New Year's! It's kind of sad to see the tree stripped of its ornaments.


5. Do you like eggnog?
I've never tried eggnog by itself. Last year, I had eggnog punch at one of Jonathan's family get togethers. From what I remember, it didn't taste bad, but I don't know if I would like it by itself.


6. Favorite gift received as a child?
hmmm...probably my American girl doll, Samantha, or the real looking baby doll with the carrier


7. Hardest person to buy for?
hmmm...Jonathan in some ways...I can buy him clothes, but sometimes ''special'' things are harder for me to pick out for him. Granny...she has everything!


8. Easiest person to buy for?
My sisters...they like jewelry and accessories...we have common ground! =)


9. Do You have a nativity scene?
Yes, one that my piano student gave me! I'm glad I have that! I've already shown Jeremiah the little baby Jesus!
10.Mail or email Christmas cards?
Mail... for sure. I love getting them and hanging them up! So, I want to give others the same pleasure!


11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received?
hmmm...let's just say that it could also be the most embarrassing gift, too, but hey! They were useful...


12. Favorite Christmas Movie(s)?
Let's see...White Christmas, Season for Miracles, Holiday Inn, Christmas Card...


13. When do you start shopping for Christmas?
November...maybe the end of October?


14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?
Maybe... =) well, yes...

Granny's chocolate fudge and Great Grandma Taylor's chocolate oatmeal cookies (I have a real sweet tooth)


16. Lights on the tree?
Colored, but thinking about switching to clear next year...maybe...


17.Travel at Christmas or stay home?
We will be going down to my parents this Christmas! Super excited!!!!

Christmas morning of course! Christmas Eve just wouldn't be right!
